CPCC and the Ross Gallery Presents: Susan Brenner

Pick: CPCC and the Ross Gallery Presents: Susan Brenner

Details: Monday, August 17 – October 1, at the Ross Gallery at CPCC. Admission: Free

Viewpoint: Beginning Monday, the first in a long series of impressive fall offerings from the CPCC gallery system will kick off with the opening of an exhibit of renowned local abstract mixed media artist, Susan Brenner. Brenner is the recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Grant, two North Carolina State Arts Council Fellowships, and has been a practicing, professional artist for more than 20 years. In her most recent series, biomorphic, abstract works on paper are created by a combination of digital and hand-drawn/painted techniques. She also serves as an Associate Professor in the College of Arts + Architecture at UNC Charlotte. Her work, mostly consisting of what amounts to abstract painterly compositions, has surprising depth and character and if this show is any indication of what’s to come to round out the year at the CPCC art galleries, then impressive things are in store for Charlotte fine arts lovers for sure. The official opening reception for this show will be held Wednesday, September 16, and be sure to mark your calenders for Brenner's artist lecture on Thursday, September 10, at the Elizabeth Building on CPCC's main campus, Lecture Hall 1106.
