Viewpoint: The Charlotte Dance Festival is going back to its roots to bring you 2 days full of creative and unique dance.  Dance Charlotte! will feature professional dance companies and choreographers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and New York. CEDA (Charlotte Emerging Dance Awards) brings together area youth dance programs to perform and experience a professional festival atmosphere. A variety of dance master classes will take place on Feb. 25, ranging from hip-hop, to ballet to Afro-fusion.  Also back by popular demand, the CDF Repertory Ensemble and the CDF Youth Ensemble. The Repertory Ensemble are local dancers 18-years-old and up who were chosen at an audition in December to perform guest choreographer Christian von Howard’s intensely moving A Statement About Being. The work will have its Charlotte premiere on the Dance Charlotte! stage. The CDF Youth Ensemble are young dancers ranging from ages 11 to 17 who were nominated by their dance programs to participate in Rachel Tucker’s energetic musical theater piece to A Chorus Line.
