Inquiry to Practice: Answering the Questions

Pick: Inquiry to Practice: Answering the Questions

Details: Thursday, August 4, 6 p.m. (opening reception) through Sept. 9, at Projective Eye Gallery, Uptown UNCC Campus. Free admission.

Viewpoint: It's sometimes hard to remember that the art teachers that guide our grade school children through the creative process are often practicing artists themselves. In coordination with Dr. Delane Ingalls Vanada, assistant professor of art education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a group of K-12 art teachers from Charlotte area schools have collaborated to present the Projective Eye Gallery's newest exhibition, Inquiry to Practice: Answering the Questions. The show looks to the state of education today, explores the idea of art education as living inquiry, and provides the teachers with an outlet to express their own creativity outside of the classroom. The works they are presenting are in multiple mediums and seek to embody the spirit of art education—work made by the people safeguarding the artistic spirit in our next generation.—Joshua Peters
