Hagit Barkai

Hagit Barkai / Artist

Hagit Barkai has been teaching college-level art since 2006, and in Aug. 2011 she accepted a position as painting professor at Davidson College. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and in 2008 earned an MFA in painting and drawing from Penn State University.

Her work has been shown in exhibitions at Praxis Gallery, New York, N.Y.; Nau-haus, Houston, Texas; Chashama Gallery, New York, N.Y.; Crane Gallery, Philadelphia, Pa.; Fe Gallery, Pittsburgh, Pa.; and the Pennsylvania State Museum, Harrisburg, Pa.

Hagit is the recipient of the College Art Association Professional Development Fellowship in Visual Arts in 2008; she was awarded first place for the Visual Arts in the Graduate Research Exhibition at Penn State University in 2007; received a travel grant to Israel from the School of Visual Arts at Penn State University in 2006, and represented Penn State University in the Big Ten Conference in Chicago, Il. in 2006.

Her newest exhibition, “It Looks Something Like This,” opens Nov. 3 at the Van Every Gallery at Davidson College. For more information, visit her website.
