Charlotte ViewPoint is committed to enriching our intellectual and artistic capital so we may realize our full potential as a region. We do it by providing a platform for the talents of our citizens through use of innovative new media technologies. We are a refereed site. All content is reviewed by our editors before publication. We invite you to submit your work and contribute to the region.

Guidelines for Submitting Work to our Arts and Culture Sections: 

We are seeking essays, reviews, critiques, memoirs, fiction and poetry that explore our creative life as citizens in the broadest terms. Subject matter may include the film/media; music/dance/theater; art/books; science; geopolitical, social and economic developments; and historical and cultural insights. We do not publish partisan political commentary (although we reserve the right for the extraordinary exception). We are seeking writing for an informed and literate general audience. Contributions should not exceed 3000 words.  Please submit in Word format to editor@charlotteviewpoint.org

Previously Published Work/Exclusivity:

We do not accept previously published work for our Arts section.  We do accept previously published work for our Culture section with attribution.  The writer retains ownership and copyright of their work and may re-publish their work elsewhere. 

Response Time:

We aim to respond to inquiries within 7 days.

Payment:

Charlotte ViewPoint pays writers $25 for initial work accepted for publication.  Pay amounts increase for additional work if an on-going relationship is established.

Cover Note/Bio/Photograph:

Please send a 3-4 sentence bio and a digital photograph headshot with your email submission.  Please include the following statement in your email cover note (see “Legal Issues below):

___(Author)_____warrants that the written work entitled _______________ is original, and that he/she owns the copyright or is licensed or otherwise authorized to use the copyright of all material provided to Charlotte Viewpoint. Further ___(Author)______ agrees to grant a limited license to Charlotte Viewpoint to publish the material on websites operated by Charlotte Viewpoint in a current edition or in archives, and in any future anthology or compilation of works published online or in print by Charlotte Viewpoint without charge or fee. __(Author)____ retains the copyright for all material submitted.

Editorial Discretion:
Charlotte ViewPoint retains editorial discretion in the selection of work for publication. Many factors enter into the selection of a piece as we seek to serve our audience. Selected written works may be edited – although we will work with the writer in doing so.

Legalities:
The relationship between Charlotte ViewPoint and the writer is subject to a copyright warranty and a limited license agreement granting Charlotte ViewPoint a non-exclusive license to use the work in furtherance of Charlotte ViewPoint’s charitable and educational purposes without fee. Based upon review of content, you may be sent a separate license agreement for signature. The writer retains ownership and copyright of their work and may re-publish their work elsewhere.
