Charles Blackburn

Charles Blackburn, Jr. / Author

Charles Blackburn, Jr. grew up in Henderson, N.C., and now lives in Raleigh, but early in his career, he roamed the state as a reporter and editor for four small town newspapers. Since 1991, he has been communications manager for a scientific research society in Research Triangle Park. He is a frequent contributor to Our State magazine. His fiction and poetry have won several awards, including a literary fellowship from the N.C. Arts Council and the 2008 Sam Ragan Fine Arts Award for Literature. His band, When Cousins Marry, recently released their first CD, Shotgun Wedding, featuring 13 original songs that range from rock to country, blues, and beyond.
