Susan Patterson / Author
Susan L. Patterson is a program director for the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, responsible for grant making in Charlotte and as a member of the Knight Community Information Challenge team. She joined the foundation in 2001. Previously, Susan was editor and publisher of The Union-Recorder newspaper in Milledgeville, GA. Prior to moving to Georgia, Susan filled a number of editing positions at The Charlotte Observer and The Charlotte News, the last being editor and publisher of Lake Norman Magazine. A former member of Charlotte Rotary Club, she’s a Paul Harris Fellow. She’s a graduate of Leadership Charlotte and is an America Leadership Forum Senior Fellow. She’s chair of the Women’s Impact Fund, a collective-giving group with 425 members, which has granted $3 million in its eight years of existence. A native of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Susan is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor’s degree in communications
