Love’s Qs – Provocative Questions for Interesting People

Interdisciplinary artist, love warrior monk, and mischievous thinker John W. Love, Jr. asserts that the more interesting the question and the person, the more interesting the time in the sandbox. Here’s a flash at how he plays with others.

Person of InterestIs beauty necessary?
About as much as air.

Your mind:
                   It’s the temperature of Pluto.
                   the texture of water.
                   and the speed of light.

Your age:
I am older than I ever thought I would be.
                 younger than my parents.
and the exact same age as my abmition.

Your body:
                                   My heart is a girl
                                   My mouth is a boy
My brain is somewhere in between

What part of your body has been annoying you lately?
My Shoulders.

What part of your body NEVER embarrasses you?
Hahahaha. Not sure that it's appropriate to say here.

What has made you cry?
My mother expressing how much she believes in me. I didn’t grow up in an overly emotive family so that really moved me.

Be they naturally occurring or people-made, name three things that exist as your favorite color.
Golf ball kohuhu shrubs (pittosporum tenuifolium), Helen’s flying frogs and the vintage green side chairs in Doug Ehmann’s uptown apartment.

If you could eat a piece of sculpture, whose is it, what’s its name, what is it made of, and where does it reside?
Roxy Paine; New Fungus Crop; made of: epoxy, stainless steel, thermoset, polymer, oil paint, urethane and aluminum; resides in the Hirshhorn Gallery.

If you could wear a piece of music, what would it be?
“Eminence Front” by The Who (it’s the song that’s playing in the background when I’m at the height of my powers).

If you were to rendezvous with the most succulent part of yourself, in what painting would the two of you meet?
In a painting that I own by Lynn Boggess. It’s a portrait of a tree named only by the GPS coordinates of the tree on his property in West Virginia.

Is photography a male, female, or transgendered? Why?
It must be transgendered because it differs depending on the light, angle, color and perspective.

Don’t name the film. Just describe one detail in the moment that took your breath away.
A young man opens the car door for his date and then watches through the back window of the car as she unlocks the driver’s side lock for him.

What makes you tired just thinking about it?
Debating politics with zealots.

Who's the sexiest person you know personally?
Aaron Kiggins. He is one of the most confident, open-minded and zealous people that I know.

Choose one – salty, hot, crisp, or juicy? Why?
Hot. I like the visceral reaction that hot things engender in me.

Who do you know that is both sleek and salty?
Valecia McDowell.

Who’s the designer, design team, or design operation that you love, love, love now? Why?
Zaha Hadid.

Who’s the design entity you feel isn’t getting nearly enough juice?
Moncler.

From where you’re sitting, what’s the most luxurious nature made substance you can reach out and touch right now? Lamb’s wool.

Sparkling water or flat?
Sparkling.

Big ears or big noses?
Big noses.

If you could, which way would you go - longer or thicker?
Thicker.

Smarter or funnier?
Smarter.

How do you feel about other people’s feet?
I find them generally disgusting.

How do you feel about other people’s hands?
I find that they say a lot about the person.

What’s the sexiest tool in your arsenal?
My cooking.

Favorite sweet thing? Honey.
Favorite bitter thing? Angostura bitters.
Favorite sour thing? Apple cider vinegar.
Favorite hot thing? Tea.
Favorite cold thing? Pelletized ice.
Favorite hard thing? Natural wood.
Favorite soft thing? My dog’s hair.

Underwear or commando?
Underwear (support is essential).

Boxers or briefs?
Briefs (support is essential. See previous answer).

Your birthday celebration was exactly what you wanted and you're already blissfully at home in bed. However your Id, Ego, Spirit Animal, Inner Bitch, Inner Warrior Monk, and Saint In Wolves Clothing have decided to continue the celebration without you in a swanky little late night cafe. Who's the first to fight, the first to fuck, the first to pass out, the first to chortle and spew white tea out their face, the first to order and subsequently knock over the bottle of wine, and the first to ditch these crazy asses?

Fight - Spirit Animal
Fuck - Id
Pass out - Saint in Wolves Clothing
Chortle and spew white- Inner Warrior Monk
Order and knock over bottle - Ego
Ditch asses - Inner Bitch

At this very moment, if your life were to spontaneously transform into your deepest, richest, and most private dream, what (or who) would the score sound like?
Bjork.

What time of day has the most beautiful light?
High noon. There’s so much of it and it’s so intense.
