The residents of Dilworth, Charlotte's first electric streetcar neighborhood, are commemorating the 1891 founding of the neighborhood with a public sculpture costing $30,000. Thanks to a supportive community, a variety of creative fundraising efforts paid off. From a field of 30 artists a world-renowned sculptor was chosen to create a unique piece of art made entirely from the original streetcar rails.
