The CV Conversation series with CAST returns April 15 with “Angels in America Retrospective: A Community Conversation with Charlotte Viewpoint.” Join CAST and Charlotte Viewpoint for an evening of rich conversation, entertainment, retrospective, forward thinking, and food and drink!

Panelists will include Arts and Science Council President Robert Bush as Moderator, Co-Directors Dr. Charles LaBorde and Thom TonettiMichael Marsicano, President and CEO of Foundation For The Carolinas, Wesley Mancini, civic leader and founder of the Wesley Mancini Foundation, and Rep. Becky Carney, who served on the County Commission during the controversy.

Directors LaBorde and Tonetti will discuss the process of presenting Angels in America in 2014 and the challenges of producing both Parts I and II in repertory. The cast will also perform selected scenes from the show.

In addition to our panel discussions, Michael Marsicano will discuss his experience as ASC president during the controversy, and will present a short film about the 1996 production. Wesley Mancini will discuss his creation of the Wesley Mancini Foundation in response to the public outcry over Angels in America during the 1996 production and his establishment of the Wesley Mancini Artist-in-Residence at McColl Center for Visual Art. And representatives from the Levine Museum will share information about their upcoming historical installment about Angels in America, from Past to Present.

Charlotte Viewpoint’s Conversation at CAST

Join Charlotte Viewpoint on Thursday, November 21 for the inaugural event of CV Conversations. We are proud to launch this initiative with CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre) with the dress rehearsal run of O GURU GURU GURU – or why I don’t want to go to yoga class with you, by Mallery Avidon.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., guests will enjoy a reception before the dress rehearsal at 7:30. Following the play, Donna Scott, of Donna Scott Productions, will moderate an interview with Mallery.
